Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Labor & Delivery to lead and oversee our high-volume Labor & Delivery unit. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive clinical experience, and a passion for maternal and infant health. As the Nursing Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, optimizing patient outcomes, and fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for both staff and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:

Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Labor & Delivery unit.

Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of care.

Mentor, support, and evaluate nursing staff to promote professional development and ensure high performance.

Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain clinical excellence and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Clinical Oversight:

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in the Labor & Delivery unit.

Monitor patient outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize patient experiences.

  • Resource Management:

Manage the unit’s budget, staffing, and resources to meet organizational goals.

Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and retention of qualified nursing staff.

Ensure the availability of necessary equipment and supplies to support patient care.

  • Compliance and Standards:

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation requirements.

Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Implement and uphold infection control protocols and safety standards.

  • Patient and Family Advocacy:

Promote a patient and family-centered care approach.

Address patient and family concerns promptly and effectively.

Foster an environment that supports patient education and informed decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited School of Nursing required – Master’s degree preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse licensed within State of practice.
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent high-volume experience as a Director or Manager of Labor & Delivery; Director experience preferred.
  • Woman Services acute care hospital leadership experience required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
